Gyotaku

An Access Art for All Event

Saturday, May 11, 2019

9:00am - 1:00pm

Join us at the Staten Island Zoo as we offer this special program for families affected by autism spectrum disorders.  Participants will explore the entire Zoo and try Gyotaku, a traditional method of Japanese printing that was used by fishermen to record their catches.  Fish replicas and mulberry paper will be used for participants to create their own prints.  Artwork will be displayed in the Zoo's events tent for the day, and will be available to pick up when the artist is ready to leave.  A quiet area will be available for families who would like to take a break from the activities.  Gates will open one hour early at 9:00am so families can enjoy ALL our exhibits.  Activities will run until 1:00pm.

Limited tickets available for online purchase only.

General Admission ticket price ($6.00) includes activities for all!

Tickets much be purchased in advance.  There will be no tickets sold at the door.

This is an Access Art for All event!  Be on the lookout for additional events this year at Staten Island Zoo, Staten Island Museum, and Staten Island Children's Museum!
