April 4 – Conservation Conversations: Eco-Tourism
Eco-tourism is a way for community based conservation to radiate to the global community by offering the opportunity to explore natural places and wildlife while inflicting the least amount of impact on these natural resources and simultaneously providing equity and resources for a local community. Eco-tourism and natural resource conservation have formed a symbiotic relationship that is not without its pitfalls but offers a sustainable plan for some of the most critically endangered places on earth.
Keynote Speaker:
Vianney Jacob Kabwine - Born by the shores of Lake Victoria in Mwanza and then joining his father, who was a safari guide, in Arusha; the gateway to Kilimanjaro. Vianney’s passion for wildlife led to him deciding to join Legendary Expeditions, where he became one of the iconic guides. Legendary Exhibitions supports the conservation of the Tanzanian environment, wildlife, wilderness and the local communities. This form of eco-tourism actively contributes to anti-poaching training and enforcement, community development and research projects in more than 6.1 million acres of Tanzania’s protected area.
