Winter Investigations

This winter, empower your child to become a scientist of the natural world at the Staten Island Zoo’s Zoofari: Winter Investigations day camp! Designed around inquiry-led and play-based learning, this program encourages young explorers to ask questions, make discoveries, and build a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Campers will investigate winter’s natural cycles—like hibernation, migration, and trees shedding their leaves—through hands-on exploration, outdoor adventures, and up-close animal encounters. Guided by experienced educators, kids will take the lead in their learning, using observation, experimentation, and creative problem-solving to unlock the secrets of how plants and animals adapt to winter.

The program also incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and creative arts projects to support discovery and creativity. From building animal-inspired shelters to designing winter ecosystems, campers will connect science with imagination in meaningful and playful ways.

This camp is perfect for curious kids who thrive on discovery, creativity, and active learning. Give your child the gift of wonder and exploration this winter!

• This is a drop off program and we ask that children bring a non-perishable bag lunch.  There is no refrigeration at the Zoo for lunches.
• You will be asked to upload proof of grade during registration.
