Grab your notebook, a cup of coffee, and have your questions in hand. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the individuals spearheading the field of conservation, right now!

Frogs, Community Science, and Conservation

Christopher Ricker, Environmental Educator for NYC Parks, Greenbelt, Staten Island

Native frog and toad populations throughout the United States and the world have been in decline for the better half of the past fifty years.  Scientific and conservation efforts are underway to assist in understanding this environmental phenomenon, and the human impacts related to amphibian decline.

During this virtual presentation, Naturalist and Greenbelt Environmental Educator, Christopher Ricker, will share his knowledge and historical records related to Staten Island's frog and toad populations and how the establishment of the public lands on Staten Island has assisted in providing one of the last strongholds for our local amphibian populations in New York City.
