Well… The Staten Island Zoo’s Conservation Near & Far is just for you! Join us for a virtual meeting with conservation and wildlife researchers on the field! Grab your notebook, a cup of coffee, and have your questions in hand. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the individuals spearheading the field of conservation, right now!

Return to 1616:  Ecological restoration of Western Australia's largest island

On October 25, 1616, Dirk Hartog landed on what would become Dirk Hartog Island.  Since then, significant anthropogenic changes have occurred, including destruction of vegetation due to livestock and feral cat introduction.  Return to 1616 brings hope for the island's native species.  Kelly Rayner, Senior Technical Officer at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction in Perth, Western Australia will tell us the steps her organization is taking to help restore the habitat of Dirk Hartog Island.  Q&A to follow.

Virtual access link will be provided to all registrants the day of the event.
