Symbolically adopt our Southern Cassowary, Kiki!

Ask anyone here at the Zoo who our coolest animal is, and chances are they'll give you one name--Kiki!  Our special living dinosaur, Kiki is actually quite personable.  When visitors stop in front of her habitat, she usually struts over to say hello.  She loves fruit and gets a delicious fruit salad every day.  Her keeper gives her tons of enrichment to keep this smart girl busy with tons of fun games to play.

Southern Cassowaries are found in the tropical forests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia.  They are the second heaviest and third tallest bird in the world.    The female lays bright green eggs, but it's the male cassowary who guards the eggs until they hatch.  Cassowaries are listed as Least Concern on the IUCN red list, but with a decreasing population.
