Our ruddy ducks, John & James, were named after the father of North American ornithology, John James Audubon!  They love snacking on greens with their sky blue beaks.  John & James can be a little clumsy on land, but watch out when they hit the water!  

Ruddy ducks can be found all over North America  They have almost oversized tails that they hold straight up in the air.   A favorite of ornithologists, their behavior can sometimes be unusual!  As one early observer put it, "Everything about this bird is interesting to the naturalist!"
