Symbolically adopt our Ostrich, Nia!

If you've walked up our entrance path, you no doubt know Nia!  This long-legged girl loves to greet our guests as they begin their visit to the Zoo.  When she's not snacking on her favorite treat of grapes, she loves to play with the hose while the keepers are filling her water bowl.  As soon as she sees her hose come out, she comes running over to play!

Ostriches are the largest bird in the world.  They are a member of the ratite group, which are flightless birds, lacking a keel where the flight muscles of other birds attach.  They are found through Africa in open arid habitats.  Ostriches are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN red list.
